Vision

-sorry I have been stusying too much-

It wasn't untill
I looked beyond
of what I know I see
not untill I left behind
the colour that I usually find
when I focus and my cones respond
that I came to be

It wasnlt untill
the lights went out
that I turned remotely blue
not untill I found my cues
my limited view became unlimited views
my world turned into an expressionists stew
that I learned something new

It wasnlt untill
my lashes kissed
and I saw within my mind
realised the black and white grey area
on the edges of my retina
are like thoughts subtleties we miss
so now I am no linger blind.

if it makes any sense
YAY for me!

Shaken not Stirred

... a week after the quake...
Better late then never I guess, I am a survivor of the quake in Hawaii.
There are actually T-shirts saying that. I guess they needed to get money off of something seeing as the whole days lack of electricity must have cost the state plenty. A lot of higher buildings also didnlt have any running water, like ours, because it gets pumped up, with need of electricity...
At the moment of the quake I woke up, facing the window in our 10 high apartment and saw the world sway. Interesting... after telling Amy, my roommate, who was sitting straight up in bed, that it was an eathquake, and after decding that if the building was gonna crash I wouldnlt have a chance at making it downstairs anyway I decided to go back to sleep. However I realised I was too excited and when my other two housemates came running through the door like the Conn Trapp children in the sound of music who were not scared of the thunder but merely checking up on us, I was rather awake and watched the people stream out of their buildings onto the streets while we were experiencing the aftershock. Most people were trying to use thier cellphiones at the time the elctricity gace out and most cellphines did too. I promise that people here hace no sense of humour when it comes to having no electricity. I'm sure that two more days of this an half Hawaii would have been dead. There was police everywhere and the big supermarket that did open again had police to escort you inside and the lines were endless!
NEway, I went to my faourite cafe cause I was dying in our building and got the last ice coffee (the ice was melting.. and after reading my book for two hourse they started handing out all their food as they were afraid it was going to go bad.. I was on a sugar high the rest of the day!
We did ghost stories untill we went to bed.. twas quite a good day :)

I speak 4 languages!!!

:Dutch, English, American and I dabble in Art... Although sometimes I suspect that I make the most sense when I try communicate with the last.
... and no, I never have issues with English, they solely arise in my dealings with the utterances I see transofrormed into grotesque scribbles without "u's" and "z's" instead of "s's".

And now for your entertainment only:

The New EEC Language

Having chosen English as the preferred language in the EEC, theEuropean Parliament has commissioned a feasibility study in ways ofimproving efficiency in communications between Government departments.

European officials have often pointed out that English spelling is unnecessarily difficult - for example, cough, plough, rough, throughand thorough. What is clearly needed is a phased programme of changes to iron out these anomalies. The programme would, of course, beadministered by a committee staff at top level by participating nations.

In the first year, for example, the committee would suggest using 's' instead of the soft 'c'. Sertainly, sivil servants in all sities would resieve this news with joy. Then the hard 'c' could be replaced by 'k' sinse both letters are pronounsed alike. Not only would this klear up konfusion in the minds of klerikal workers, but typewriters kould be made with one less letter.

There would be growing enthusiasm when in the sekond year, it kould be announsed that the troublesome 'ph' would henseforth be written 'f'.This would make words like 'fotograf' twenty per sent shorter in print.

In the third year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reash the stage where more komplikated shanges are possible.Governments would enkourage the removal of double letters which have always been a deterent to akurate speling.

We would al agre that the horible mes of silent 'e's in the languag is disgrasful. Therefor we kould drop thes and kontinu to read and writ as though nothing had hapend. By this tim it would be four years sins the skem began and peopl would be reseptive to steps sutsh as replasing 'th' by 'z'. Perhaps zen ze funktion of 'w' kould be taken on by 'v', vitsh is, after al, half a 'w'. Shortly after zis, ze unesesary 'o kould bedropd from words kontaining 'ou'. Similar arguments vud of kors be aplid to ozer kombinations of leters.

Kontinuing zis proses yer after yer, ve vud eventuli hav a reli sensibl riten styl. After tventi yers zer vud be no mor trubls, difikultis and evrivun vud fin it ezi tu understand ech ozer. Ze drems of the Guvermnt vud finali hav kum tru.

Small World

Very relaxed weekend, got slightly lobster red at the beach, made Indian Currie for some people before going opff to see a movie (Illusions) and eating a bucket of Ben and Jerry's.. oh and maybe I conveniently skipped getting slightly drunk on friday night at Indigo's in China town; hum.

Today was the best though! I spent the entire day doing art! After waking up, I had some random Sunday morning time. When I went to meet Maxi I had the most random conversation with this random guy who decided he wanted to talk to me, which was quite interesting actually. He was a Law Student and had just come to Hawai'i.
Then at the Sunday morning art session (models come in to draw and you pay four bucks and get to draw differenmt poses all day with a whole bunch of people) some people who had seen me doing art abnd had told me to come previously were excited to see me and came to look at what I was doing. I had some cool conversations:
1. This lady I already met last year who is always full of good advice (sometimes more that you can take)
2. Some random guy who found my artwork masterly (hrmpf that was too obvious!)
3. This really old Guy who happens to be Indonesian and who makes the most amazing watercolour pieces. We talked Indonesia, the Netherlands (he could count till ten in Dutch), art, and he is gonna take me and Maxi there. Awesome!
4. The lady who runs the place asking if I wanted to model sometime!!! I do not need a social security number, it is on Sundays = no waterpolo, it pays bloody awesome :) and hrm yeah, it is waht you think, it is nude modeling LOL but I guess coming from Dutch-land that shouldn't bother me (or so everyone seems to think). It will only be in November, but still it should be interesting and they like artists as they presumably know interesting poses to draw. Hrm. We'll see.

You're wondering if I did anything besides talk? Here's the collection:

For the rest I did some required work on a bigger piece that I'm sure will show up here at some point.
Ill upload a bigger version of the left part on Art Attack (see links on the right) It was really good fun!

The Bonus was the art gallery opening downstairs where all the teachers of our department show their work this month. Grand opening with some delicious food: Hommos, crab salad, guacamole toast home made iced tea, brownies mochi and pineapple grapes melon and other goodies! So that was out lunch.
The art was pretty cool to see, my last years life drawing teacher was there and he came up to do some draing too and commented that my work was looking well but that I should start abit larger next time. (He's right of course (about the larger thing)) he sat down next to me, whipped up the same image that I had only he took 40 minutes to my hour and then left again. Random people, but all good fun! I guess artists have an unspoken bond or something LOL but it made for a great day!
